As a Mercury-ruled soul, how lovely to welcome this week’s ingress of the Messenger into Aquarius for a blink-and-ya-miss-it three-week tour of Fixed Air. Also on the astrological menu for the final days of January 2025: New Moon Aqua, Lunar New Year, plus Uranus & Jupiter stationing direct.
However.
Today’s marquee recipe celebrates the divinely-timed Imbolc conjunct Venus Aries in her retrograde shadow run-up to Neptune’s pending ingress into Cardinal Fire.
As told by astrobros across the Internet, Spring’s forecast brings bombardment by the masculine principle with war drums and powder kegs. Debatable, IMO, but whatever the case Brigid and her Irish sistren are already getting the party started as Venus cruises into Aries.
Every winter, my Leo Sun welcomes February’s Full Moon starlight - captured by the Hermit’s lantern - as a signal that birds and bees and blossoms are awakening. Below, find my preferred method to celebrate Imbolc… Brigid’s Bath.
As always, this cowgirl cure from my kitchen apothecary should cost next to nothing; don’t tell the Goop squad but on the low my ingredients come from Target’s generic brands. (If you’re called to splurge, make it on local honey.) Recommended playlist includes Bjork’s Undo, Invisible Sun by The Police, and Lorde’s Solar Power.
Brigid’s Bath: Recipe for Imbolc
Ingredients:
Turmeric powder
Fresh whole citrus (oranges, lemons, grapefruit)
Raw sugar
Honey
Tools:
Mason jar with lid
Mug
Tub
Strainer
Bleach
Preparation:
Boil water, squeeze a lemon’s worth of juice into a mug and add a dollop of honey. Slice open fresh citrus of choice, halved. Add two parts raw sugar to one part turmeric powder in a mason jar, screw the lid tightly, and shake. Run a bath at as high a temperature as tolerable.
Soak, sipping honey lemon water, and lightly scrub skin with mason jar mixture. Use citrus halves, one at a time, to squeeze over skin. Visualize your navel as a glowing sun, increasing its orb slowly and steadily. Use a strainer over the drain when finished, and rinse skin under a cool shower.
Note your skin and tub will retain a golden glow. Wear socks and dark clothes to minimize stain on the skin. Use bleach to minimize residue in tub.
